把天津濱海新區搞得天翻地覆的瑞海國際物流公司，是一家員工數不到百人、註冊資金5000萬元人民幣的小公司，專門負責危險品貨櫃的裝卸運送及倉儲。昨日死裡逃生的公司員工說：「此前沒有經過危化品培訓。」另有爆料者說，天津濱海新區近年化工廠密集布局，這和原來的規劃不相符。瑞海國際物流有限公司負責人只峰正在泰達醫院住院，但已被警方控制，公安人員監控。

瑞海國際物流成立於2011年，是天津口岸危險品貨物集裝箱業務的大型中轉、集散中心，也是天津海事局指定危險貨物監裝場站和天津交委港口危險貨物作業許可單位。

公司以經營危險化學品集裝箱拆箱、裝箱、中轉運輸、貨物申報、運抵配送及倉儲服務等業務為主，共有員工70人，外用工20人。

中外油氣化學產業聯盟理事長趙衛華表示：「事故原因還不能下定論，但是倉儲的管理一定存在問題。」

另一個隱憂是，大爆炸事發地附近有多個居民小區，其中最近的萬科海港城3期距事發地還不到1公里。天津市開發區及濱海新區，化工廠、民居、學校等相互交錯。

當初一位參與天津城市規劃的人士告訴媒體，近些年開發區用地緊張，但是化工廠密集布局，這和起初規劃不相符，「為什麼後來有這麼多化工廠，我們也非常疑惑。」
